Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 16, 2026

1. Overview

Yardage ("we", "us") is a golf trip planning tool hosted at yardage.us. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. We take a minimal-data approach: Yardage requires no account and collects only what is necessary to plan and coordinate your trip.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide

When you plan a trip, you may provide:

  • Trip details — destination, travel dates, group size, per-person budget, desired rounds, lodging preference, and optional notes;
  • Commissioner name — an optional first name used to personalize the trip invite (e.g., "Mike put this together");
  • Trip member names and origin cities — added by the commissioner to calculate flight estimates and arrival windows for each person in the group;
  • Contact information — an email address or phone number, collected only when a group member voluntarily confirms their RSVP on a shared trip page. This is never required to use the planner.

Information collected automatically

We assign an anonymous, randomly generated voter cookie to your browser when you interact with community votes or trip reactions. This cookie is not linked to your identity and is used only to prevent duplicate votes.

Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request path, timestamps) are collected by our hosting provider, Vercel, for security and operational purposes. We do not use these logs to build user profiles.

Information stored in your browser

The "Your Trips" page uses your browser's local storage to remember trips you have created. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to:

  • Generate and display your golf trip itinerary;
  • Calculate flight estimates and arrival windows for group members;
  • Enable trip sharing via a unique, shareable link;
  • Display anonymized community-shared itineraries when a commissioner opts to publish their trip;
  • Prevent duplicate upvotes and reactions.

We do not use your information for advertising, sell it to third parties, or use it for any purpose unrelated to operating the Service.

4. AI-Generated Content

Trip itineraries are generated with the help of large language model providers (currently Anthropic). Your trip intake data is transmitted to Anthropic's API to produce itinerary content. Anthropic's use of API data is governed by their privacy policy. API inputs are not used to train Anthropic's models.

5. Information Sharing

We share information only with the service providers necessary to run Yardage:

  • Vercel — hosting, infrastructure, and server logs;
  • Anthropic — itinerary generation via API;
  • Flight data providers — estimated fare lookups using origin/destination airport pairs;
  • Routing APIs — drive time calculations using coordinate pairs.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. If we are required by law to disclose information, we will do so only to the extent required.

6. Data Retention

Trip data is retained on our servers for as long as is reasonably necessary to provide the Service. We do not have a self-service account deletion flow at this time. To request deletion of your trip or any personal information associated with it, contact us at the address below.

7. Children's Privacy

Yardage is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we collect. However, no method of internet transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Choices

Because Yardage requires no account, you can stop using the Service at any time without any formal opt-out process. You can clear your browser's local storage to remove "Your Trips" data from your device. You can clear cookies to remove your anonymous voter cookie.

To request deletion of server-side trip data or member contact information, email us at the address below with your trip ID or share link.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the Service after any change constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
